Nová Vieska (Kisújfalu)

The quiet, orderly settlement can be reached via two railway bridges along the railway line of Parcany. The courtyards of the houses are full of flowers and well-kept gardens and cultivated fields. The village hall, which bears the hallmarks of folk architecture, is now on display after painstaking restoration work by museologists and restorers. They have gathered together relics, traditional tools, costumes and utensils from bygone eras. The Reformed community, with its long tradition, still has a lively faith and community life, and the Reformed church has neoclassical features. The Som Hill Nature Reserve and the Parisian Marshes Nature Reserve are located on the outskirts of the village. The marshy area of the Paris stream, with its ‘floating islands’, is a rare and valuable habitat for special marshland wildlife and protected waterfowl. The Somfa forest is also a protected area with its loess and quicksand cover and extensive oak and acacia forests.
